Tony Sowers and I met with the Pine Valley Chamber of Commerce. This is a part of the effort to get the information out to the local businesses and population.
This opportunity came to being due to the fact that somebody in the community was concerned that if this BioChar plant was put in Pine Valley that the valley will be filled with smoke all the time. This is an important case where we were able to tell the local folks at this meeting that this would not be the case that this plant will produce very little if any smoke. That the major effluent that comes out to the plant is carbon dioxide and even that is 1/3 of what would come out if the same amount of wood were burned.
There was a good discussion on the possible jobs, concerns with being able to work in the forest during the summer in fire season and other valid questions based on local knowledge and skills.
This was one of many local contacts needed to get the community to support what BioChar Products is doing and get resonable information to the local public about the likely inpacts of having this industry located in Pine Valley.
